Fiberglassing work is a delicate task where it is important to be completed during sunny weather. Your koi will have to be relocated (e.g. koi hotel) for the duration of the filberglassing work and to prepare the water of the pond prior the return of your koi. It is usual for such a repair job including water preparation activities to take between 2 to 4 weeks.

Ascertaining pond leakages  

Over time due to various reasons, your koi pond might spring a leak and you find water level dropping. Slight water reduction due to evaporation is normal such as reduction of 5 to 10 mm water level in a week. However if you observe 10 to 20 mm drop in water level within one day, then it is a clear indication of a leak somewhere.

Before we proceed to do anything to your pond we have to first establish the source of leak and may require several visits depending on its complexity. Generally, we observe that leaks come from waterfalls most of the time because of the plants and shrubs that are used to beautify the waterfall grow roots over time. The roots can cause the concrete structure to shift and crack the fiberglass resulting in a leak.
